In its latest roadmap, NVIDIA confirms that the Ampere GPU successor will arrive in 2022, followed by the Next-Gen in 2024.

 


NVIDIA has finally released a new GPU roadmap, confirming that the Ampere GPU's next-generation counterpart will launch next year in 2022. Also, the roadmap reveals what's coming next in terms of ARM-based CPUs and DPUs in the future.

The NVIDIA GPU Roadmap confirms that the Ampere Successor will arrive next year, followed by its successor in 2024.

Jensen Huang, NVIDIA's CEO, announced the company's new GPU, CPU, and DPU roadmap during the keynote. Jensen announced that his business would pursue a two-year upgrade schedule on all processors, indicating that Ampere's replacement will not arrive for another year. It's worth noting that the roadmap doesn't specify which market segment these chips are intended for or their naming scheme.


So, in terms of specifics, NVIDIA's Ampere GPU counterpart, officially codenamed 'Ampere Next,' will be unveiled in 2022. Since the Grace Hopper codename was already used for the brand new CPU that the company introduced today, the new GPU is likely to be called Ada Lovelace. The 'Ampere Next Next' GPU is also scheduled to debut in 2024, according to the roadmap. It's also possible that these are all HPC products, with market parts following a separate release plan.

In terms of CPUs, NVIDIA today released Grace, a brand new ARM Neoverse-based CPU. The CPU is set to debut in 2023, but its successor, codenamed 'Grace Next,' is set to debut in 2025, a year after the successor to the Ada Lovelace GPUs.


The Bluefield DPUs are also included in the roadmap. Today, NVIDIA unveiled the Bluefield-3 DPU, which is set to debut in 2022 and be followed by a sequel in 2024. The Bluefield-3 DPU will feature 22 billion transistors and 16 ARM A78 cores. It will have data transfer speeds of up to 400 Gbps and an output of up to 1.5 TOPs. Bluefield-4, its replacement, will be released in 2024 and will have 64 billion transistors, 800 Gbps upload rates, and up to 1000 TOPs of output.
